So I made it out to see Kick-Ass yesterday and I left wanting to be a superhero.... or at least do some crime fighting/kung fu... kind of like watching a basketball game and then wanting to go play afterwards. I had an inclining that this movie would be good before seeing it... partially because of other reviews that said it was and because Brad Pitt was one of the producers (everything he touches is gold). Nick Cage is in the movie for the perfect amount of time - just enough where you can appreciate his "Nick Cage-ness" but not too much where it becomes overbearing - think Ghost Rider or City of Angles The movie is a great blend of comedy and action... not really trying to be laugh out loud funny but rather have you chuckling for most of the flick. The action scenes surpassed my expectations, partly because of how well edited they were (Hong Kong style slow motion) and also because of the super cool weapons and attachments - flashing blue light (you'll see).
If you are looking for a combination of something like Superbad and Watchmen (a much shorter version)... this movie will be perfect. If you are not looking for that combination well I am sure you would like it too!!! I can say that it easily ranks in my top 5 or so of favorite superhero movies.
